This Davis methods course will show you how to assist a child (or children) on the autism spectrum under the age of eight. You will  be able to guide them to increase their self-awareness, improve  self-regulation, deal more positively with change, cope with meltdowns,  and better understand the world around them – all without losing their beautiful uniqueness.​

The workshop is delivered over 4 three-hour sessions. Up to four hours of additional group mentoring will be provided outside of the workshop sessions, as needed.

Bundle Davis Stepping Stones 1 & 2 – and go further

The Davis Stepping Stones workshop gives you the tools to support a young or non-speaking autistic individual through the foundational concepts. Davis Stepping Stones 2 takes that further.

Once you’ve completed Davis Stepping Stones, your child or participant will be ready to explore three deeper concepts that help them make sense of the world around them:

• Time — understanding that change can be measured, and that the world operates on a predictable standard
• Sequence — recognising that things follow each other in order, across five types: time, size, amount, arbitrary order, and importance
• Order and Disorder — building the ability to recognise when things are in their proper place, position, and condition — and how to restore order when they’re not

These concepts are explored hands-on, through clay modelling and real-life experiences. They’re not abstract lessons. They become part of how the participant understands and interacts with daily life.

For the helper, Davis Stepping Stones 2 also introduces additional self-regulation tools, including Dial-Setting and Koosh ball exercises, to strengthen both your practice and theirs.
