Do you think in words or pictures? Do you talk to yourself in your head, or create an internal film when you read a book? Do you do both? And why does it even matter?

It matters to one-third of the population who learn differently from the way they are taught. Too often, they are incorrectly labelled learning disabled, when in reality, they are perfectly capable of learning.

So what is dyslexia? Is it a learning disability? Is it just reversing b’s and d’s? Is it struggling to read — or could it actually be a gift?

WHO KNEW Dyslexia Is a Way of Thinking challenges the status quo. It is an exploration into how the dyslexic mind works — and why understanding it changes everything. The film follows Sue Blyth Hall, a passionate and empathetic advocate with a strong sense of justice, who knows everyone is able to learn if they are taught in the way they were born to learn. It is the education system that is disabled by a lack of understanding. Her dream is that parents, educators, and communities everywhere understand the cause and the solutions, so that every child can enjoy learning and fulfil their potential — from day one and for life.

Whether you are a parent, educator, dyslexic adult, or simply curious about strengths-based approaches to learning differences, this promises to be a thoughtful and engaging evening.
