DESCRIPTION:Daily timings: 9:00 a.m. — 4:30 p.m. British Summer Time (UTC+1). \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis  5-day workshop is an introduction to the basic theories\, principles and  application of all the procedures described in Ronald Davis’s internationally best-selling book\, The Gift of Dyslexia\, and more. \n​ \nTraining  is done with a combination of lectures\, demonstrations\, group practice\,  and question and answer sessions. Attendance is limited to ensure the highest quality of training. \n \nWho Should Attend \nParents • Home educators • Teachers • SENCOs • Special Needs Support Staff • Tutors • \nPsychologists • Counsellors • Speech therapists • Occupational Therapists • Trainers • Researchers • Career Guidance Counsellors • Anyone interested in helping others correct their dyslexia. \n  \nParticipants will learn: \n\n\nHow the Davis procedures were developed. \n\n\nHow to screen for the “gift of dyslexia” and establish a symptoms profile. \n\n\nHow to help dyslexics eliminate perceptual disorientation and focus their attention. \n\n\nSpecial techniques for working with people who do not visualize well or have ADHD symptoms. \n\n\nHow to incorporate and use proven methods for reducing confusion and mistakes in a classroom\, home-schooling\, tutoring or therapeutic setting. \n\n\nHow to structure a Davis Dyslexia Programme. \n \n\n\nDetailed course outline \n \n \nFace-To-Face\, Online… \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTo keep you safe during the Covid-19 pandemic\, we moved our professional training online. In doing so\, we were determined to continue providing richly experiential training. So we explored and implemented numerous ways of ensuring this continued\, even across a digital screen. The feedback from our trainees has been so overwhelmingly positive that we decided to stay with the online model even when the risks from the pandemic started to wane. \n \nThe Gift of Dyslexia online is still the Gift of Dyslexia. This is no dry webinar. We employ a host of creative innovations to ensure the same dynamic\, convivial\, hands-on experience that you would expect from any Davis methods workshop. \nFeatures of the online workshop experience include:  \n\n\n“camera-on\, mic-on” interactive instruction \n\n\nshort video demonstrations of key procedures in a face-to-face setting \n\n\nanimated walk-throughs of our main procedures \n\n\nadapted pair work practice in “breakout rooms” \n\n\ncontent review and Q&A sessions to reinforce your learning as you go along \n\n\nin-session use of plasticine clay\, so you can experience Davis Symbol Mastery hands-on. \n\n\n We strongly recommend connecting to the sessions from a computer or large tablet. During the clay modelling sessions\, a second device (such as a smartphone) will be needed so that the Presenter and fellow-participants can see your face and your clay models at the same time. \n \nYour Workshop Presenters \n \nCathie Geraci \nCathie is an American who has lived in Venice Italy for over 30 years. She holds degrees in Economics and Speech Communication.  She has over 20 years of experience with learning difficulties both personally with her neurodivergent children as well as working with neurodivergent individuals. She discovered the Davis Methods 15 years ago and the results were so spectacular for her children that she immediately began to train to become a facilitator. In addition to helping over 200 individuals to help understand their intelligence as a facilitator\, she is a Training Supervisor and Workshop Presenter for the Davis Autism Method. She has been fortunate to have spent time with Ron Davis to develop programs and translate his work into the Italian Language.  She sees the intelligence in every individual and believes there is no limit to how an individual can develop and learn. \n \nRichard Whitehead\n\nRichard is author of the book\, Why Tyrannosaurus But Not If? The Dyslexic Blueprint for the Future of Education.” and of “Counting On Fingers — Why Some Bright And Creative People Struggle With Numbers And Maths\, And How That Can Be Changed.” \n  \nA Patoss-accredited Dyslexia Assessor and former secondary school SENCo\, Richard is Director and Principal Trainer for Davis UK & Ireland and has delivered one-to-one Davis Programmes since 2002. \nRichard has presented on the Davis methods across five continents and has conducted webinars and lectures on multi-sensory learning for Operation Diversity\, the University of Chester\, the Jamia Millia Islamia University of Delhi\, the University of South Africa\, as well as regularly for Davis UK & Ireland.
