He previously served for six years as Special Educational Needs Coordinator in a leading British independent school. \nRichard is the author of Why Tyrannosaurus But Not If? and Counting On Fingers\, and has contributed to publications such as Literacy Today\, Green Parent Magazine\, and Personnel Today. He has been a regular speaker at the Birmingham Neurodiversity Show. \nCathie Geraci \nDavis Autism Approach Workshop Presenter & Training Supervisor \nCathie is an American who has lived in Venice\, Italy for more than 30 years. She holds degrees in Economics and Speech Communication\, and brings over two decades of experience supporting neurodivergent individuals—beginning with her own children\, whose remarkable progress first introduced her to the Davis Methods 15 years ago. \nInspired by their transformation\, Cathie trained as a Facilitator and has since helped more than 200 individuals discover and use their innate intelligence. That can produce short-term results — but the change often doesn’t transfer to new situations\, and it rarely builds the internal understanding that makes real independence possible. \nThe Davis developmental approach asks a different question: what developmental foundations need supporting? Behavior is often a sign that something underneath hasn’t been fully integrated yet. When you address that\, you get change that sticks. \nThe three developmental foundations\nThe Davis approach builds on three sequential stages. Each one depends on the last. \n1. Individuation — “I am Me”\nA grounded sense of self as separate from others and the environment. This underpins body awareness\, sensory regulation\, attention\, and self-regulation. In the Davis Autism Approach\, this is supported through Auditory Orientation and the Concept of Self. Without this foundation\, everything built on top is unstable. \n2. Identity Development\nLearning the concepts that help a person understand themselves and the world — not through repetition\, but through experience. The Davis approach uses clay modelling and real-life activities to make abstract concepts concrete and personally meaningful. This is where understanding actually forms. \n3. Social Integration\nThe ability to connect with others\, read social situations\, and respond flexibly. In Davis\, this stage addresses concepts like Another/Others\, types of relationships\, and a framework for decision-making. It can only develop once Individuation and Identity Development are in place. Having been a classroom teacher for several  years\, he originally discovered the Davis methods when looking for a  solution for the son of some friends. \nHis  extensive background in education includes time spent teaching in both  the adult and mainstream secondary educational sectors. \nRichard  has a keen interest in holistic approaches to health and learning; alongside his dyslexia work\, he has run workshops on effective  parent/child communication based on the work of Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish. \nIn  recent years\, Richard has lectured and presented on the Davis learning methods in countries and cultures as diverse as the UK\, Ireland\,  Iceland\, Estonia\, Poland\, Portugal\, India\, Italy (Sardinia)\, South Africa\, New Zealand and  the United States.​ \nRichard’s  original university education was as a linguist\, and he speaks several European languages. Alongside Richard’s work with the Davis methods\, he  is also a Patoss-accredited Specialist Teacher Assessor\, specialising in  multilingual SpLD assessments for non-native speakers of English in the UK. \nRichard is author of the Davis Methods books Why Tyrannosaurus But Not If ?\, and Counting On Fingers as well as a free fifteen-part e-mentoring course for teachers and parents of struggling learners\, a six-week practical course for parents and a practical workshop for teachers.  He has written articles on neurodiverse learning styles for publications that include Literacy Today\, Green Parent Magazine and Personnel Today magazine.
