DESCRIPTION:A 2-day workshop for parents\, educators\, and therapists ready to build on the foundations established in Davis® Stepping Stones. \nWhen the foundations are there — but there’s still more to discover \nYou’ve started to see changes. The individual you support may communicate more easily\, express their needs and preferences more clearly\, regulate themselves with greater success\, or participate more readily in activities and everyday interactions. You may also be seeing new signs of curiosity\, flexibility\, and awareness of the world around them. But as their understanding grows\, new challenges and opportunities emerge. \nStepping Stones 2 builds on these developing foundations by introducing concepts that help individuals make better sense of how the world works — including time\, sequence\, order and disorder. These concepts can be difficult to grasp when they are presented as abstract ideas\, so the Davis approach uses hands-on clay modelling and real-life experiences to make them concrete and meaningful. In doing so\, we were determined to continue providing richly experiential training. So we explored and implemented numerous ways of ensuring this continued\, even across a digital screen. The feedback from our trainees has been so overwhelmingly positive that we decided to stay with the online model even when the risks from the pandemic started to wane. \n \nThe Gift of Dyslexia online is still the Gift of Dyslexia. This is no dry webinar. We employ a host of creative innovations to ensure the same dynamic\, convivial\, hands-on experience that you would expect from any Davis methods workshop. \nFeatures of the online workshop experience include:  \n\n\n“camera-on\, mic-on” interactive instruction \n\n\nshort video demonstrations of key procedures in a face-to-face setting \n\n\nanimated walk-throughs of our main procedures \n\n\nadapted pair work practice in “breakout rooms” \n\n\ncontent review and Q&A sessions to reinforce your learning as you go along \n\n\nin-session use of plasticine clay\, so you can experience Davis Symbol Mastery hands-on. \n\n\n We strongly recommend connecting to the sessions from a computer or large tablet. During the clay modelling sessions\, a second device (such as a smartphone) will be needed so that the Presenter and fellow-participants can see your face and your clay models at the same time. \n \nYour Workshop Presenters \n \nCathie Geraci \nCathie is an American who has lived in Venice Italy for over 30 years. She holds degrees in Economics and Speech Communication.  She has over 20 years of experience with learning difficulties both personally with her neurodivergent children as well as working with neurodivergent individuals. She discovered the Davis Methods 15 years ago and the results were so spectacular for her children that she immediately began to train to become a facilitator. In addition to helping over 200 individuals to help understand their intelligence as a facilitator\, she is a Training Supervisor and Workshop Presenter for the Davis Autism Method. She has been fortunate to have spent time with Ron Davis to develop programs and translate his work into the Italian Language.  She sees the intelligence in every individual and believes there is no limit to how an individual can develop and learn. \n \nRichard Whitehead\n\nRichard is author of the book\, Why Tyrannosaurus But Not If? Dyslexia is a Way of Thinking” will be featured as the kickoff to a community partner panel discussion. The panel consists of individuals who are experts in their fields\, and who have lived experience with dyslexia. Pediatricians\, educators\, parents and more will find this discussion valuable as they provide support for their patients\, students and children. Bring your questions to the open Q&A and visit the resource tables afterward. This event is open to the public\, but RSVPs are requested and appreciated. In doing so\, we were determined to continue providing richly experiential training. So we explored and implemented numerous ways of ensuring this continued\, even across a digital screen. The feedback from our trainees has been so overwhelmingly positive that we decided to stay with the online model even when the risks from the pandemic started to wane. \n \nThe Gift of Dyslexia online is still the Gift of Dyslexia. This is no dry webinar. During the clay modelling sessions\, a second device (such as a smartphone) will be needed so that the Presenter and fellow-participants can see your face and your clay models at the same time. \n \nYour Workshop Presenters \n \nCathie Geraci \nCathie is an American who has lived in Venice Italy for over 30 years. She holds degrees in Economics and Speech Communication.  She has over 20 years of experience with learning difficulties both personally with her neurodivergent children as well as working with neurodivergent individuals. She discovered the Davis Methods 15 years ago and the results were so spectacular for her children that she immediately began to train to become a facilitator. In addition to helping over 200 individuals to help understand their intelligence as a facilitator\, she is a Training Supervisor and Workshop Presenter for the Davis Autism Method. She has been fortunate to have spent time with Ron Davis to develop programs and translate his work into the Italian Language.  She sees the intelligence in every individual and believes there is no limit to how an individual can develop and learn. \n \nRichard Whitehead\n\nRichard is author of the book\, Why Tyrannosaurus But Not If?
