SUMMARY:Basic Practice Meeting - Online NZ time
DESCRIPTION:This 5-day onlinecokrse is open to students who have completed the Basic Field Assignments. Its purpose is to refine counsellor skills\, and develop increased experiential understanding of dyslexic perception\, thinking\, learning style and process. It provides intensive supervised practice in small groups of the basic Davis procedures and is focused on improving technical skills. This course may be required to be repeated to improve skills for those wishing to pursue licensing as Davis Facilitators. Includes individual Specialist consultation. Note: Basic Field Assignments must be submitted 21 days before workshop starts. This course must be done with the same Specialist who reads and evaluates these Basic Field Assignments.

DESCRIPTION:Before the workshop\, please watch THIS VIDEO about the Davis approach and the workshop. \n  \nThe  Davis Mastery for Dyslexia Programme was developed by Ronald Davis to overcome his  own learning difficulties. Davis sees dyslexia as a talent. It is the  ability to think multi-dimensionally\, to shift or alter mental and  physical perceptions. This explains why so many dyslexics are creative\,  offer unusual solutions to problems\, are very intuitive or have vivid  imaginations. \n  \nThe Davis Mastery for Dyslexia Programme helps the individual to discover his innate gift\, and to apply it to the  learning difficulty. In this way\, the blockages to effective learning  are removed. Axel is a licensed Davis Dyslexia Facilitator and Workshop Presenter and has worked with home Ed groups before.\n\n  \nWHEN \nThe classes will run on Monday and Thursday mornings from 9:00-12:00 for 5 weeks. You will have to commit to the full programme. \nStart date Monday 22 July 2024\, end date Thursday 22 August 2024. \n  \nWHERE \nThe classes will take place online on zoom. You work with your child\, supervised by the workshop presenter\, and then practice the procedures between sessions. \n  \nWHAT \nThe Programme includes \n– Focusing Tools including Orientation and coordination exercises \n–  Davis Symbol Mastery exercises. These involve the use of clay to model  the alphabet\, punctuation marks and the meaning of trigger words to  clear up any confusion \n– Davis Reading Exercises \nPlease note that you will be learning alongside your child so you can facilitate follow-up at home. \n  \nWHO \nWe  are looking for a group of 8 children minimum\, ideally aged 8+. The programme  is beneficial for all learners even if they are not dyslexic.
