Attendance is limited to ensure the highest quality of training. \n \nWho Should Attend \nParents • Home educators • Teachers • SENCOs • Special Needs Support Staff • Tutors • \nPsychologists • Counsellors • Speech therapists • Occupational Therapists • Trainers • Researchers • Career Guidance Counsellors • Anyone interested in helping others correct their dyslexia. \n  \nParticipants will learn: \n\n\nHow the Davis procedures were developed. \n\n\nHow to screen for the “gift of dyslexia” and establish a symptoms profile. \n\n\nHow to help dyslexics eliminate perceptual disorientation and focus their attention. \n\n\nSpecial techniques for working with people who do not visualize well or have ADHD symptoms. \n\n\nHow to incorporate and use proven methods for reducing confusion and mistakes in a classroom\, home-schooling\, tutoring or therapeutic setting. \n\n\nHow to structure a Davis Dyslexia Programme. \n \n\n\nDetailed course outline \n \n \nFace-To-Face\, Online… \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTo keep you safe during the Covid-19 pandemic\, we moved our professional training online. In doing so\, we were determined to continue providing richly experiential training. So we explored and implemented numerous ways of ensuring this continued\, even across a digital screen. The feedback from our trainees has been so overwhelmingly positive that we decided to stay with the online model even when the risks from the pandemic started to wane. \n \nThe Gift of Dyslexia online is still the Gift of Dyslexia. This is no dry webinar. We employ a host of creative innovations to ensure the same dynamic\, convivial\, hands-on experience that you would expect from any Davis methods workshop. \nFeatures of the online workshop experience include:  \n\n\n“camera-on\, mic-on” interactive instruction \n\n\nshort video demonstrations of key procedures in a face-to-face setting \n\n\nanimated walk-throughs of our main procedures \n\n\nadapted pair work practice in “breakout rooms” \n\n\ncontent review and Q&A sessions to reinforce your learning as you go along \n\n\nin-session use of plasticine clay\, so you can experience Davis Symbol Mastery hands-on. \n\n\n We strongly recommend connecting to the sessions from a computer or large tablet. During the clay modelling sessions\, a second device (such as a smartphone) will be needed so that the Presenter and fellow-participants can see your face and your clay models at the same time. \n \nYour Workshop Presenters \n \nCathie Geraci \nCathie is an American who has lived in Venice Italy for over 30 years. She holds degrees in Economics and Speech Communication.  She has over 20 years of experience with learning difficulties both personally with her neurodivergent children as well as working with neurodivergent individuals. She discovered the Davis Methods 15 years ago and the results were so spectacular for her children that she immediately began to train to become a facilitator. In addition to helping over 200 individuals to help understand their intelligence as a facilitator\, she is a Training Supervisor and Workshop Presenter for the Davis Autism Method. She has been fortunate to have spent time with Ron Davis to develop programs and translate his work into the Italian Language.  She sees the intelligence in every individual and believes there is no limit to how an individual can develop and learn. \n \nRichard Whitehead\n\nRichard is author of the book\, Why Tyrannosaurus But Not If? The Dyslexic Blueprint for the Future of Education.” and of “Counting On Fingers — Why Some Bright And Creative People Struggle With Numbers And Maths\, And How That Can Be Changed.” \n  \nA Patoss-accredited Dyslexia Assessor and former secondary school SENCo\, Richard is Director and Principal Trainer for Davis UK & Ireland and has delivered one-to-one Davis Programmes since 2002. \nRichard has presented on the Davis methods across five continents and has conducted webinars and lectures on multi-sensory learning for Operation Diversity\, the University of Chester\, the Jamia Millia Islamia University of Delhi\, the University of South Africa\, as well as regularly for Davis UK & Ireland. DESCRIPTION:The Gift of Learning (formerly Advanced) Workshop focuses on dyscalculia (maths difficulties) and ADHD. You  will be introduced to Davis Concept Mastery and how to apply this  technique to concepts such as change\, consequence\, time\, sequence\, order  and disorder. These concepts are the foundation for the mastery of  mathematical processes and equations. They additionally form a crucial  part of our approach to ADHD. \n\n\nCancellation and Refund Policy \nWhen purchasing your enrolment onto these modules\, you will be asked to confirm acceptance of the following Cancellation and Refund Policy: \n\nYou may cancel your enrolment within seven days of enrolling\, provided that you notify us of this in writing and provided that the date of cancellation also provides for at least one month’s notice prior to commencement of the module in question.  Should you be unable to attend the training for reasons of a personal or family medical emergency\, then we will treat each case on an individual basis following presentation of the necessary medical evidence. SUMMARY:Basic Practice Meeting – Malvern\, UK
DESCRIPTION:The Basic Practice Meeting develops a refined level of skill  in the basic Davis techniques and enhanced experiential understanding of  the perceptual\, thinking and learning style of dyslexics. His diverse background includes a degree in arts\, extensive psychotherapy training\, and a wide range of experience in human development\, publishing\, and self-help initiatives. \nAxel began his career by founding Mannraektin (Human Potential) in Iceland\, where he developed courses on eating disorders. He later co-founded the publishing company Vöxtur\, introducing Icelandic audiences to transformational books like Men Are from Mars\, Women Are from Venus. \nCertified as a Davis dyslexia facilitator in 2002\, Axel founded Gifted Dyslexic\, now operating internationally\, and established Davis Dyslexia Association Africa to train and support facilitators across the continent. As a Davis workshop presenter\, he has impacted educators\, parents\, and specialists worldwide through his public lectures and training programmes. \nAxel has successfully piloted a number of initiatives for young learners and homeschooling families within the Davis model. \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\nPriti Venkatesan heads up the Heartful Kids-Indigo Unit of Lalaji Memorial Omega International School (LMOIS)\, Chennai (INDIA) and was licensed as a Davis® Dyslexia Program Facilitator in 2014. She founded the “Indigo” unit in the school to support the learning of struggling learners and those with SpLD using Davis Learning Strategies. Since then\, the school has successfully trained more than 800 students in the art of learning independently. \nIn 2006\, Priti gave up her successful career in the corporate sector to follow her passion for working with children. Apart from being a Davis Facilitator\, she is also a licensed Neuro-linguistic Program Practitioner. \nPriti has trained over 150 teachers in India and abroad in Davis Learning Strategies and mentored them in taking these strategies into the classrooms. Her areas of expertise include curriculum design\, assessments to assess the learning issues in children\, and teacher training. Having been a classroom teacher for several  years\, he originally discovered the Davis methods when looking for a  solution for the son of some friends. \nHis  extensive background in education includes time spent teaching in both  the adult and mainstream secondary educational sectors. \nRichard  has a keen interest in holistic approaches to health and learning; alongside his dyslexia work\, he has run workshops on effective  parent/child communication based on the work of Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish. \nIn  recent years\, Richard has lectured and presented on the Davis learning methods in countries and cultures as diverse as the UK\, Ireland\,  Iceland\, Estonia\, Poland\, Portugal\, India\, Italy (Sardinia)\, South Africa\, New Zealand and  the United States.​ \nRichard’s  original university education was as a linguist\, and he speaks several European languages. Alongside Richard’s work with the Davis methods\, he  is also a Patoss-accredited Specialist Teacher Assessor\, specialising in  multilingual SpLD assessments for non-native speakers of English in the UK. \nRichard is author of the Davis Methods books Why Tyrannosaurus But Not If ?\, and Counting On Fingers as well as a free fifteen-part e-mentoring course for teachers and parents of struggling learners\, a six-week practical course for parents and a practical workshop for teachers.  He has written articles on neurodiverse learning styles for publications that include Literacy Today\, Green Parent Magazine and Personnel Today magazine.
